Perre is an oil painting of one of Australia’s most magnificent birds of prey, the Peregrine Falcon. While not as colourful as many of my other subjects, Peregrines have a striking majesty all their own, and painting them with thick oils and palette knives allowed me to capture both their texture and personality.
The background is also layered with palette knife texture, adding depth and movement, while the falcon’s feathers are brought to life with bold, expressive strokes. Painted as a pair, Perre has a companion piece called Falk, together, they reflect both companionship and the harmony of nature.
