Max is my tribute to the beloved Aussie Magpie, a bird every Australian knows well. Friendly and full of character most of the year, magpies are known for their cheeky side (and their swoops!) during nesting season.
Painted in oils with a palette knife, Max is rich in texture, from the layered feathers to the background. I painted a pair, because I love giving each bird a companion, a reminder of the friendships and bonds found in nature.
