Royal Couple was inspired by a weekend away just outside Brisbane, where a pair of King Parrots visited the bird feeder near our cottage. They came so close I could capture photos of them, their striking colours and gentle presence felt too beautiful not to paint.
In this artwork, I’ve celebrated their vivid plumage and added surrounding flowers to highlight their elegance. Created with oils and palette knives, Royal Couple is rich in texture and depth, with each stroke capturing the birds’ charm and the beauty of Australian wildlife.
